The City of Senatobia Fire Department is currently taking applications for Firefighters.

Applicants will be required to pass a physical ability test, background check, drug test, must have a valid MS drivers license, and be 18 years of age or older. Position Title: Parks Director
Department: Parks and Recreation

Position Summary:

The City of Senatobia is seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to serve as Parks Director. This leadership position is responsible for the organization, management, and promotion of the City’s parks, and related programs. The Parks Director will ensure the highest standard of park operations, create partnerships for hosting outside tournaments, oversee vendor contracts, and manage both full-time and seasonal staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tournament Management: Develop and implement strategies for recruitment and successful hosting of outside tournaments across various sports. Oversee event setup, coordination with organizers, and evaluation of events to ensure high standards and positive visitor experiences.
  • Vendor and Contract Oversight: Manage and structure contracts with vendors, including concessions and tournament service providers. Ensure contracts align with city policies, provide value to the city, and enhance visitor satisfaction.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Create marketing initiatives to promote the park and its facilities to attract visitors, sports tournaments, and other recreational events.
  • City League Administration: Oversee the operation of city-sponsored leagues, including scheduling, staffing, and ensuring compliance with league regulations and standards.
  • Seasonal Workforce Management: Recruit, hire, train, and supervise part-time and seasonal staff needed for tournament operations, concessions, maintenance, and other park functions.
  • Budgeting and Financial Management: Assist in the preparation and management of the parks department budget, including forecasting revenue from events, vendor agreements, and concessions.
  • Policy and Compliance: Ensure all park operations comply with city, state, and federal regulations, including safety standards, labor laws, and environmental guidelines.
  • Park Grounds Management: Supervise grounds crews to maintain a clean, safe, and professional appearance across all park facilities. Allocate resources to ensure crews have the equipment and support needed to achieve high maintenance standards.
  • Other Duties as Assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Measurable experience in recreational management, event coordination, or related areas, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Understanding of tournament management.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience in negotiating and managing vendor contracts.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop marketing campaigns and partnerships.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed for events and tournaments.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check.

The City requires a background check and a pre-employment drug screening.

The City provides health insurance at no cost to the employee and State of Mississippi retirement.  The City also provides a $15,000 life insurance policy as long as you are employed with the City.
